Weekend 2 Recap
Over the second weekend, our fellows wrapped up their human-centered design curriculum, developed their communication and civic engagement skills, and met tech leaders from around the world.
At the Careers in Product Panel, Jeff Humble (Co-founder, The Fountain Institute), Afnan Saqr (Global Content Production Operations Associate, AstraZeneca UK), Chris Torruella (Head of Product Design, Glovo), Hani Azzam (Product Manager, Capital One), and Lilian Abou Zeki (Head of Solutions Mapping, UNDP Accelerator Labs) spoke about the various roles and responsibilities related to product, including the importance of stakeholder management and understanding business needs.
Meltem Naz Kaso Coskun closed out the second half of a 4-part human-centered design class, helping the fellows develop their human-centered design projects on Miro, teaching the critical importance of feedback and retroactives, and discussing implementation within tech.
Mohammed Ali led a skill-building workshop on communication, sharing communication methods and best practices for career-building, conflict resolution, and networking effectively.
At the Launching a Business Panel, Tey El-Rjula (Founder, Fluus and Tykn), Marwan Abdelhamid (Founder, GrowHome), Tamara Abdel-Jaber (Founder, Palma Consulting), Ranoo Hiwa (Founder, Bina App), and Reem Alghrs (Founder, Sanad) shared their inspiring stories founding their own companies in the region, spotlighting how their failures were some of the most defining moments of their journeys.
Angelina Tran hosted a workshop on civic engagement, teaching how to use social media and storytelling to amplify social causes, and connect with and mobilize people.
